"And you say we're too young,
but maybe you're too old to remember
And I try to pretend but I just feel it when we're together
And if you don't believe me, you never really knew us
You never really knew.
And who's to say that we're not good enough?
And who's to say that this is not our love?"
And who's to say that this is not our love?"

I absolutely LOVE this song by Vanessa Carlton, and it kind of goes with so many things I think about and reflect over in my life. A time where we, and I mean this "we" as ALL OF US, are so obsessed with finding out things about each other, our friends' friends and even total strangers (celebritites anyone?) that we stop trusting people. We are so busy trying to prove that they are liers, cheaters, fakers that we stop listening to what they're actually saying.
This line in the song describes what I'm trying to say so much better than I apparently do:
Who's to say?
And who's to say?
And who are they anyway?
And who's to say?
And who are they anyway?
This also touches on another subject I'm very passionate about and have been writing about on here before. The judging eyes of complete strangers that make you feel like complete sh*t, because they are staring at you for one reason or another, or whispering about you behind your back and you know it, you feel it. I experience this a lot, as I've said before, and it still makes me SO insecure. The judging: of who you are, who they think that you are, what you wear, what you say and on and on and on. And I know a lot of you readers have experienced the EXACT same things, in fact, most people have at one point or another. But I am trying to ignore these things and ask myself these very good questions:
Who's to say? And who are they anyway?
(on another note, what I am wearing today: preppy, a bit TOO autumn-y outfit for the summer heat but oh well. I'm not a denim, jeans-wearing girl as you should know by now but I have to admit, I kind of love these skinny black jeans...the only pair of jeans I wear and actually like.)

I love this new style on you. It is a bit autumnal but I love how you styled it. Especially with those platforms! Taking a style note for this as the perfect back-to-school outfit!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute look! I love those jeans on you! :)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing! This makes me feel excited for fall to come so I can break out my think knot sweaters! I alkso experience being judged by strangers because of what I wear, and it bothers me so much! It's hard to ignore sometimes.
ReplyDeleteYou look gorgeous! I love the studded collar-gives a bit of edge. ;) As for the judgement of strangers..it can be hard but you have to remember-they are just that-strangers! I think we also often think what people are saying about us is worse than it actually is. Chin up, you are lovely! xx
ReplyDeleteSuch a classy look! I love it

What a great post! I too adore the song and the deep meaning behind the lyrics. Also, I too hate with a passion the whispered gossip of vulture folks. I try my best to ignore their lingering musher eyes - it almost always works! Besides, this outfit is absolutely GREEEAT! A babe with a bike ;)
