London Calling!

February 29, 2012

I really have to go to bed now, since I am going up unhumanly early tomorrow morning to catch a flight to Stockholm and then to London!

I am not sure how much I will update during my stay in this amazing city (which I've been to once before but am more than excited to return to), I will however take loads of photos so be expecting updates during the next week!

Oscars: Best Dressed

February 28, 2012

So, I don't normally do posts like this one. But the Oscars this year was so exciting for me and so fun to watch and all of my favourites won! And some of the red carpet styles are just too awesome not to blog about, so here we go:

Meryl Streep: wearing a Lanvin golden dress, Ferragamo shoes. She looked like a winner in that dress and she indeed was the winner at the end of Oscar night! Her acceptance speech might have been one of the most moving, touching speeches I have ever seen, so you should definitely look that up if you haven't already!

Jessica Chastain: looked so flawless in
a Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen dress. Love the combination of her loose hair with this dress.

Gwyneth Paltrow: I so adored the simplicity in this. So very elegant. Dress by Tom Ford.

Octavia Spencer: really love this dress, it suits her perfectly. The fall of it is perfect too. By Tadashi Shoji.

Emma Stone:
Just amazing. I love the color, the flow of the dress, the bow. Goes perfectly with her hair and her skin. By Giambattista Valli.

(I am now busy preparing for London, which I am going to on Thursday morning! This week has been so perfect, really! And it's about to get even better!)

Maybe This Time

February 26, 2012

Jacket: Röda Korset (Red Cross), Kupan/ second hand

Bag: Röda Korset (Red Cross), Kupan/ second hand

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

I have so many things to tell you! I don't really know where to start but all right, here we go:

This past week I have been on an internship at the Red Cross Organization (Röda Korset, Kupan) second hand store (you can find its blog HERE) and it has just been amazing!

I will from now on, together with my "partner in crime" Cornelia if everything goes according to plans, start styling and selecting trendy/unique items for their City Store this spring. It's just amazing how much clothes are sent in every day to this great organization and we gotta re-use it don't we? Well, that's my job: to make sure trendy/fashion interested girls like me and you guys get the best, trendiest and most unique items.

(Så om du bor i Umeå så kan du börja besöka City-sektionen av Röda Korset, för där kommer kläderna som jag har väljer ut en gång i veckan att finnas (blandat med annat såklart)!)

Anyway, it just feels like a wonderful opportunity to mix my interest in styling and fashion and at the same time doing something good. Since all the money the Red Cross collects through people buying clothes goes to charity, it's really a great great thing.

Okay, second part:

Tonight is the big finale, the big night of Awards Season. After this night, friends, you can be sure there will be more updates here at my blog. Because the last couple of months I have been so busy with this Awards Season, because I am a movie freak and I love these award shows. It's the geeky part of me that blooms out fully during these first months of the year.

So tonight, OSCAR NIGHT. I am staying up all night (yes, I think the Oscars are over at about 6.30 am here), but I am not alone. I am actually having a really cool Oscar date with my friend Katy, who lives in the U.S but we are gonna do something really new and revolutionary which is...(drumroll please)...skyping. Yes we are gonna Skype with each other while watching the Oscars for 5-6 hours or something. It's gonna be epic.

We are dressing up, eating delicious snacks and choosing our winners for each category, as well as Best/Worst Dressed. So I thought I'd share my votes for the main categories, if anyone is interested that is, here we go:

Best Picture: The Artist

Best Actress: Meryl Streep (The Iron Lady)

Best Actor: Jean Dujardin (The Artist)

Best Director: Woody Allen (Midnight in Paris)

Best Supporting Actress: Jessica Chastain (The Help)

Best Supporting Actor: Max Von Sydow (Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close)

And HERE you can listen to the Oscar Night Playlist me and Katy have put together, featuring songs from Oscar nominated movies this year, from past Oscar nominated/winning movies and also some songs that just remind us of The Oscars.

Can you tell that we're serious? Haha.

All right, that's all for now. I will probably do quite a lot of updates on my Twitter and Facebook tonight, if you're also up watching the Oscars you're welcome to follow/join in there:

2 by Me

February 21, 2012

I am probably most known for being in front of the camera, by most of you. And yet I enjoy being behind the camera almost even more than being in front of it. I love photographing and I do it a lot, I just rarely publish the photos I shoot on my blog.

These two are shot for a school assignment. You were supposed to pick a photographer you like and then be inspired and shoot similar photos yourself.

Can you guess which one I chose?

Starts with A...Leibo...vitz

Ellinor, dear friend of mine, is photographed in the first picture. My daddy is the model in the second one!

Video Tour of My Home

February 18, 2012

So, I tried out filming in HD with my new amazing camera and this is the result. I should have used a tripod though, so sorry for the shakiness. Anyway, this is my home. From my closet to my room, from the kitchen to the dining room/living room, from the hallway to the library.  Enjoy!

Other than that, I am enjoying a quiet and relaxing weekend, just had a great pizza-dinner with my brothers and my dad, we really forget about time when we're having dinner. Could sit and talk to them for hours and hours without getting fed up with it.

Suede and Lipstick Red

February 16, 2012

Lipstick Red Sweater: Rodebjer

Suede Coat: second hand

Skinny Leather Pants: Zara

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Our fashion show last night went just AMAZING, so happy and proud of us! And all of the models, which were truly fabulous as well. Photos are coming up soon. And so many came to watch, just wonderful!

Today I am so worn out, though. We worked, ran around and stood for more or less 12 hours in a row yesterday. Wish I could just relax now but unfortunately I have a stupid math test to deal with.

Anyway, Valentine's Day came, saw and didn't conquer a lot to be honest. But I did receive this super-gorgoeus lipstick-red knit from my parents, from one of my absolute favourite designers Rodebjer. Such a sweet thing.

Awesome song

Oh summer, where art thou?

I think it's clear to say that I want summer to be here already. Winter is not my favourite season of the year for so many reasons, probably for the same reasons it was my favourite season when I was a little kid. When I didn't care if I had to wear 10 layers and jump over mountains of snow on my way to school, in fact, I enjoyed it.

That being said, life is good and even though I am not at NYFW along with some of my blogger friends right now(sad-face)and I do have to study a lot this evening and next week, in just a few weeks I am going to London with my mom (a part of my parents gift to me for my upcoming 18th birthday)and about a month after that me and my whole family are heading all the way to the Big Apple, New York City

Just lovely.

xoxo

Oh and by the way: I just got a new camera (another gift from my parents for my 18th birthday!), so now I am shooting all of my photos with a Nikon D5100. It feels fantastic!

And a thought also goes to Whitney Houston on this day, such a tragedy. I just love, love her songs!

My Answers to Your Questions

February 8, 2012

Here are my answers to some of the questions you asked me in my most recent Q&A post(oh and by the way: I have just bought a splendid new camera, so be expecting some great photos this weekend!)

Q: How do you take really good photos?
A: Well, practice, practice, practice is my first tip. I mean I wasn't very good at taking photos one year ago, when I first started my blog (and that you can see proof of at my old blog, if you go back in the archives: http://blogg.veckorevyn.com/amandabrohman) )
but I  really practiced a lot and shot a lot of different things and that's how you improve. Good equipment is also crucial, but spend your money on buying a really good lens instead of a really good camera. Because the lens is what really does the trick. I love my 50 mm, f/1.8 d!

Q: Are you friends with any other style bloggers?

Yup! Here are some of the friends I've made this past year through blogging, all super-awesome:

Q: Why has your posting slowed down recently?
A: Oh because of several reasons. 1) because it's winter and it's been more or less -30 degrees here every single day for the past week, which makes it almost impossible to be outside and shoot photos.  2) again because it's winter and it gets dark really fast. 3) because I have so many things going on in school and with planning my upcoming trips to two big cities this spring, being the CEO of me and my friends new company Days in Denim
but I will try to update more often!

Q: How do you maintain your skin? it always looks so clean and perfect!!:)

A: Well first of all, thank you so much, I'm very happy to hear that you think so! I have been blessed with a very soft, clean skin type, I guess I am one of those who has the so called "porcelain skin", which means that you rarely get acne or anything like that but on the other hand it's very very hard to get a tan in the summer as well. I mean I never get really tan and my skin doesn't love the sun as much as I do, I'm afraid.

But what do I do to maintain it? I always use a moisturizing day cream (from L'Oréal but the brand doesn't matter I think) in the morning before I put on my make up and in the night before I go to bed, to keep it from getting dry, especially now in the wintertime. I also spray on a face mist, another thing to keep it fresh! Also important is the fact that I basically only use BareMinerals make-up, nothing that clogs the pores. Haha.

Q: Do you wish that you lived in New York?
A: Haha yes! But who doesn't?

Q: Dream trip?
A: Well, I would say New York City but I actually am going there in only a couple of months!

Q: What side of the street do you dive on in Sweden?

A: Haha I assume you mean drive? I don't know if diving is that popular on the streets in Sweden, or maybe I'm just very ignorant? ;) Well, we drive on the right side of the street!

Q: Which is your favourite blog? ;)

A: I have a lot of favourites! I subscribe to over 100 blogs on Bloglovin' but for some(except my friends blogs of course):

Fashiontoast

The Cherry Blossom Girl

GARY PEPPER VINTAGE

PARK&CUBE

 Advanced Style

 The Sartorialst

Q: Have you got a sister or a brother?:))

A: Yes, in fact I've got 3 older brothers!

Q: Would you rather go to school in Sweden or America?

A: Oh, well both school systems I'm sure have their pro's and con's. And as much as I dream of living in the U.S (for other obvious reasons), the school isn't one of them. I mean of course I would love to go to university or college in the states, because there are so many exciting alternatives to choose from. But what's great about Sweden is that we have this system where all schools are free for everyone, so you don't have to pay a huge fee each semester in order to attend a good school, which is pretty fantastic I think.

On the other hand, I am secretly dreaming of living the American high school life, haha. Yes, cheerleading  and cliques included (not sure I would be the one cheerleading though).

Q: PLASE AMANDA! VIDEO ROOM TOUR

A: Haha, I am in fact making one as we speak! Should be up soon!

 That's all for this time!

xoxo

(P.S: There's something wrong with my blog right now, so it insists on making everything in the second half of this post in CAPS LOCK, so annoying but nothing I can do! Just so you know, I am not desperately screaming out my answers. Even though, that would be rather fun in a way I guess.)

Wilder Than A Leopard

February 5, 2012

Sheer Printed Blouse: Romwe

 Lipstick: Lancome[Le Rouge Absolu 134]

Sometimes the photos I love the most are the non-perfect, non-pretty ones. I love photos that show us something more than the perfect surface of it all. And I also love that you can make all photos interesting and beautiful if you just know how. This wall is nothing but a plain white wall but if you make it interesting it will be. It's the same with people.

I received this wild leopard printed blouse from Romwe a couple of days ago. I have a kind of strong hate-love for leopard print, because the one who wears it might risk looking a bit grotesque and...clueless, I suppose. But it can also be extremely chic and awesome if you wear it in small portions at a time.
Won't be something I will be splurging on though. At least not in the upcoming 40 years. After that, I can't promise anything.
