Rain? Check.

Sweater: Romwe

Blue Cape: Romwe

Pants: Rodebjer

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Name of Lipstick: MAC "Viva Glam III A32"

 //

So here's the full outfit of yesterday's detail. Messy hair, yes I know, that's me and FYI I don't own a straigthener: so if the people who think that I should would like to give me one, I would be more than glad to start using it! :)

The past days have been SO rainy and dark, frankly, so these photos ended up being a bit dark too. And they don't really give any justice to the really nice Rodebjer pants. But I just love combining colors for autumn, I'm actually more into colors this season than I am during the summer - when I usually just wear really pastel-y and light clothes.

So anyway, now I'm just gonna put on a movie and spend the evening with my parents and some snacks. Perfect for a rainy, dark Friday night.

Those Preppy Goth Girls

August 28, 2012

Wool Burgundy Sweater: COS
Black Studded Collar Shirt: Topshop

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Lipstick: MAC

So I am trying out the "goth preppy girl" look, which I know actual goth and grunge people kind of hate the fashion world for imitating..but I do kind of love it, so hence I am wearing it.

I was inspired after purchasing this new shade of lipstick when I was in Stockholm this weekend, it's a darker shade of the MAC (which is also my favourite lipstick brand, by the way) lipstick I normally wear but it's just perfect for this season. Matching with the darker autumn colors.

Also opted for light eye-make-up, just to give the look some contrast.

Airport Look

August 24, 2012

Dress: Red Cross Store (Röda Korset, City Umeå)

'Rita' Leather Biker Jacket: Acne

Bag:

Bag: Vintage By Fe

..

So I am heading to my flight to Stockholm in about an hour and I have to eat something before that so I will just let you analyze and look at my outfit all by yourselves this time. Without any further explanation.

These are some typical Amanda travelling clothes by the way: I thought I should mention it since I frequently get asked by some of you what I wear when I'm travelling and this is a typical outfit:  I love wearing something I find comfortable yet stylish, if you know what I mean? And always bring a jacket or sweater in case it's cold in the airplane, which it often is.

Okay, have fun this weekend! And follow me on Instagram for updates from Stockholm!

Montana Mountains

August 22, 2012

Photos shot by me in Glacier Park, Montana.

//

So when visiting particularly beatiful spots in the world one becomes so mesmerized and fascinated that it's hard to know whether to just take 1000 of photos or just take it all in by smelling, feeling and seeing. But by using your camera you find the most interesting things, some which you are not aware of when you're taking the photo.
Such as the peeing goat in the top photo.

I have been a bit MIA these past days I have to admit, and that's because I am so busy preparing for the TOEFL and also my first day of senior year was today, so that's why.

How are you guys?

Summer is All in Bloom, Summer is Ending Soon. But I hold on to secrets in White Houses.

August 20, 2012

 White Semi-Transparent Dress: Romwe

Necklace: Romwe

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Sunglasses: GiantVintage.com

//

Just gonna let the photos and the clothes speak for themselves this time.
Along with this verse:

"She's so pretty and she's so sure, maybe I'm more clever than a girl like her. Summer is all in bloom, summer is ending soon.
It's all right, and it's nice not to be so alone.
But I hold on to secrets, in white houses."

Back To School

August 18, 2012

 Sweater: H&M

Pleated Skirt: Red Cross Store/second hand

Over-The-knee Socks: BikBok

Backpack: Target

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

//

So excuse my crazy colorblocking but I got carried away. School is, as I go on and on about, right around the corner and it seems that each year I just get so inspired to bring out my knee socks and my pleated skirts. And I am sort of still bummed that we don't get to wear school uniforms in Sweden -

in fact, when me and my friends were in 4th grade, we even tried to protest against the fact that we didn't have school uniforms, yes we were very involved in school politics (and that might have also been an early showing of my fashion self), the teachers said that we could "make our own school uniform", something we were very disappointed with because we kind of had that "all or nothing attitude", we wanted it to be mandatory to dress in a certain way. Haha!

Little did I know then, because here I am, doing exactly that: making my own school uniform in the colors of autumn. The colors of this autumn even, adding some klein blue to mix it up with the more typical warm colors of autumn leaves.

Into The Woods

August 15, 2012

Peach Jumpsuit With Studded Collar: Romwe.com

White Jacket: Monki

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

//

So this is something that at first felt a bit out of character for me, I don't know why but it did. The jacket with the jumpsuit (the jumpsuit which by the way is from Romwe, gotta love that store and how they always seem to be ahead of trends, or at least right in the middle of them).

And the hair up, since I bascially never wear my hair up. But after getting used to it I quite like this ensemble, the burnt pastels/nudes gives it a almost a resemblance to Chloé (if I dare to say so myself).

I have one more week of summer holidays and then I'm officially going back to school, to my senior year. Wow. Time just flies by doesn't it? It's exciting yet totally terrifying.

The Black Swan

August 12, 2012

 Dress: old wardrobe find

'Rita' Leather Biker Jacket: Acne

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

I found this dress earlier this summer while going through some old clothes, I think I got this dress from my parents when I was in 7th grade or something, a very long time ago in other words, and back then I don't think I quite knew how to wear it, since I wasn't exactly into the whole "styling thing". I couldn't care less about what looked good with what.

So putting this on now again I realized that it's a really pretty, simple dress for casual yet sophisticated days (um, say what: who actually has a "casual but sophisticated day"?! Sometimes my fashion vocabulary makes even me nauseous).

As for the jacket, I just love it. Bought it a year ago and it still just goes with basically everything. Acne can do no wrong in my eyes.

To The Praire

August 9, 2012

 White shirt-dress: borrowed from mom

Camera Necklace: gift from parents

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell "Busted"

Hat: Monki

Decided to go a bit "to the praire" with this outfit in my garden. Sometimes in the summer, or let's face it, most of the times in the summer, I just really enjoy wearing the simplest of outfits. Like this shirt, which I "borrowed" from my mom the other day, just a perfect breezy wear which still looks fashionable and fun if you pair it with the right accessories.

And the hat, the hat ladies and gentlemen. I haven't been wearing a hat in A LONG time, I suppose it was one year ago when I did a similar shoot.

A Word About "The Girl World"

August 6, 2012

Recently I have become more and more annoyed with a few things concerning the girl world. Yes, I want to call it the girl world because, let's face it, it is. I am talking about the world where being a size 0  is considered ideal and doing everything and anything in order to achive that is revered as "hard work and a great goal" . This past week I've been scrolling through some Tumblr blogs which are entirely dedicated to the art of becoming skinny and I am disgusted. Disgusted because these blogs have thousands of followers, all young girls, all with apparent eating disorders (from anorexia to bullimia) and they look up to the bloggers' as role models, when in reality they should do everything to avoid these bloggers, because let me tell you one thing: they are not making anything better in the already messed up world of girls' ideals.

As many of you may already know, I have been a victim of eating disordes too, I have been a victim of working out 24/7 and eating nothing. And let me tell you one thing I learned from that: that eating disorder will not just make you skinny, it will also make your life complicated, oh so very complicated. Years after getting better from it, you will still look in the mirror and see yourself as possibly overweight, you will still be obsessed with knowing that your body is in fact the same as it was yesterday, that you haven't magically gained 5 pounds over the night, because that is what the mirror's showing.

That's what I learned from that, that's the only thing I learned from that. And seeing all of these girls complaining about their bodies and how "fat" they are, just makes me disgusted. And the even worse thing is, it's not their fault. It is not our fault. It's the fault of magazines, fashion designers, movie production companies (who only cast, more or less, size 0 actresses in the lead parts), health gurus, anyone who is trying to make size 6 seem "plus-sized" and size 0 the norm.

I am a size 6 and that is - still - considered the same as a size S if you look for it in stores, for now. But I am thinking with the way things are turning it will only be a matter of time until they actually rename that to L and 0 to small. What will the, should I dare say it, even bigger sizes than the size 6 be named then? Will a size 14 equal XXXL , size 16? XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXL?

As you can see these won't even fit on a label so maybe they should just remove them, after size 6 you don't exist? That's how it is in the fashion world already, anyway.

But you know this is all bullsh*t, right? Everything from deciding how fit and pretty you are by "if your thighs are touching or not" to neglecting that piece of chocolate cake because you think it will make you fatter. It's nonsense, all of it. Believe me. Been there, done that. Actually, being there, doing that.

But I am more and more coming to terms with the fact that doing all of that, looking at skinny girls on Tumblr or Bloglovin' or whatever and hating yourself for not being as skinny will not contribute to anything important in your life. It definitely won't make you happy.

And isn't happy the new skinny? I've heard it is.

Dress: Weekday

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Bag: gift from mom

Hey there and happy Saturday! I'm just obsessed with Lana Del Rey and this song so hence the title.
Now, Cornelia's arrived and we're having a pancake dinner before heading out. If only it would stop raining.

Oh and I found this dress in the vintage section of Weekday while in Gothenburg the other weekend, I've been on the lookout for tie-dyed items all spring/summer and I finally found a nice one.

Any of you into tie-tyed at the moment?
