Brick Lane By Sunset

September 29, 2012

 T-shirt: New York Yankees

Skirt: Topshop

Shoes: Topshop

Sunglasses: GiantVintage.com

//

Brick Lane is another of my favourite parts of London. I like its roughness. And I like its second hand shopping. You will find the best second hand shops in this area.

We spent the afternoon and evening here one day, taking photos in the sunset and doing some shopping before the stores closed. Then we headed to Covent Garden (best place to find restauarants, by the way) for a late night sharing plate, as you can see pictured above.

And that day's outfit-detail-fail: can you spot that my collar, which is supposed to peak out to give the look a preppy feel, is hiding? Oh well, I am human, after all.

Coca-Cola Bottles Are Not Allowed At Harrod's

September 27, 2012

 Jumpsuit: BlitzLondon (Brick Lane)

Shoes: Topshop/Office London

Sunglasses: GiantVintage.com

Bag: gift from mom

//

Going to Harrod's is something I always need to do when in London. Even though, as Cornelia put it, "you get the urge to just break something in here, because everything's just too perfect."
And I agree.
When we were in the furniture/lamp department and walked by a huge crystal chandelier (and here we are talking ceiling-to-floor huge) she just gripped my arm and said:
"Okay, Amanda, we need to get away from this apartment before I crash this thing!"

But despite that, I love going into Harrod's! Just walking around watching people, buying some ridiculously expensive and delicious Belgian chocolates in the candy department, browsing through couture dresses in the womenswear section. Something about all that.

And most of all, the thing I recommend everyone of you to do if you are in London:

taste the scones and tea at CafĂ© Florian (on the 3rd floor), this is such a blissful moment, I'm telling you. And their scones, their scones. They melt in your mouth. And the tea, don't even get me started on that.

Anyway, I'm getting hungry and carried away.

These photos are mostly shot in Knightsbridge(and some on Oxford Street), after having an intense day of shooting and shopping and on our way to rewinding at Harrod's. I'm wearing my new jumpsuit from Blitz London (the best vintage store I've been at, in London) and casually drinking out of a Coca-Cola bottle, as you can see.

Also note, that NO ONE actually drinks "casually" out of a Coca-Cola bottle. So that's a first..

September Skirt

September 25, 2012

Skirt: Awwdore.com (click on link to get to store)

Sweater: VILA

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

Bow: gift from cousin

//

I have started a new collaboration with the webshop Awwdore.com , which is just the cutest webshop, they have a great but not too big selection of clothes..which makes it easier to browse through.

This skirt would probably be a more classic fit for summer or spring..but I am all about being groundbreaking, ha ha! So hence the choice to match it with a dark blue sweater and a dark lipstick, just to give it a touch of autumn.

Ponytails and Dark Lips

September 22, 2012

Sweater: borrowed from mom

Shorts: ShopAkira

Shoes: Jeffrey Campbell

//

This is not a typical Amanda-style, I suppose. Everything from the ponytail to the simplicity of it all, no real quirky-ness.

These are photographed in Earl's Court, right outside our hotel and I kind of look a bit bummed because it's super-hot (which is awesome, though) and I had spent about 30 minutes before this going back and forth between what to wear. But after this, we made our way to Oxford Street for some serious late afternoon shopping and this made me very happy again!

Hyde Park to Notting Hill

September 19, 2012

Dress: Topshop

Shoes: Office/Topshop

Sunglasses: GiantVintage.Com

Backpack: Target

..

One of my favourite parts of London is Notting Hill, not exclusively Portobello Market (which tend to be extremely touristy) but the atmosphere and art of Notting Hill. Like, they have pastel colored houses!  I mean, how perfect is that?! They look like ice cream buildings, don't they? I kind of styled myself to fit in with the houses and pastels, yes that is what I do nowadays: I dress to fit in with the buildings.
No. Not really.
I just happened to fit in pretty well with the buildings here, I am wearing a creamy crispy dress I bought at Topshop the day before, I kind of love how it can be very classy and fancy but at the same time more down-dressed for a day in school, or like in this case, a day hanging out with a best friend!

Cornelia also managed to match the buildings here, didn't she?

And just a note, for any of you who are planning to go to London and are in need of a good ice cream place, go to Gelato Mio , the best (and I mean the BEST) ice cream I have tasted in a VERY long time. In fact, the most recent time I can remember eating such delicious ice cream was when I was in Italy at the age of 8. And that was a while ago.

Breakfast At Tiffany's

September 17, 2012

Moon River.

Do you recognize this setting? These clothes? This atmosphere? It's not something I would wear everyday, but as a part of our senior year project (and the main reason we were in London) we are re-making scenes from movies. And this is one of them.
Breakfast At Tiffany's.

Which is also, may I add, one of my absolute favourite movies, if you haven't seen it I suggest you do it. It's worth it: the dialogue is amazing, Audrey Hepburn is also amazing and the clothes are...well rather amazing as well.

While shooting we were also captured by a super-lovely streetstyle photographer, which happened a few times during our stay in London. You can see the photo of her taking a photo of me above.

There Are Palm Trees In London Too

September 15, 2012

 Dress: Monki

Sunglasses: Monki

Bag: gift from mom

Creepers: Underground

Belt: Second Hand

//

SO when you go to London you expect to find about anything and everyhing..except for maybe palmtrees? Well we found those too. So you know, that's that, no more need to look for that.

These are some shots from our first day in one of my cities: in this beautiful alley in Earl's Court we met the most fascinating man who told us everything about his meetings with The Queen(NOTE the plural form here, he has met her several times and apparently thet get on well, that's nice!) to in which house The Bee Gee's used to live and that if we just looked around that corner we could spot Freddie Mercury's house as well. Oh and Dusty Springfield was brought up to as a former residence of this particular alley. I just love meeting fascinating people like that, who are happy to share their stories.

Preppy in London

September 12, 2012

 Sweater: VILA

Burgundy Skirt: Topshop

Shoes: Office London/Topshop

Sunglasses: GiantVintage.com

//

As a lot of you know, as much as my style varies from day to day the base is more or less the same: preppy.

I don't know when I really became serious about adapting the preppy style, I think it was about a year and a half ago when I started watching Gossip Girl and became absolutely obsessed with collars peeking out under sweaters, cute skirts and headbands. I've ditched the headband but the preppy remains, even so in London, naturally.

I also adore my new shoes, aren't they perfect?! So shiny and different from all of the other creepers I've seen.

Hope you're having a pleasant evening!
